High School Youth Ministry

John was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he exclaimed, “Behold the Lamb of God!” The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. When Jesus turned and saw them following, he said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi,” (which translated means Teacher), “where are you staying?” He said to them, “Come, and see.” John 1: 35-39

Let’s go! If you, like the disciples, want to learn more about Jesus, then you’ve come to the right place. Our ministry is all about following Jesus on the way to discipleship.

Overall Calendar: 2019-2020, High School Calendar

Sunday Night Group: Exemplaque

This group meets on Sunday nights, from 7:00-8:30 PM. You’re also encouraged to come to the 6 PM Mass beforehand! Youth Night is much more than just sitting in a classroom. It’s about Christ-centered community, building friendships, connecting the faith to real life, praying together, and essentially, learning what it means to be a disciple. Practically, each night will include snacks, small group discussion, prayer, and casual conversation with others. New to youth ministry? We encourage you to come and join us for one of these nights!

Small Groups!

This is a new initiative for 2019-2020. The idea is to have a small group of friends that meet together, once a week, to read Scripture, pray together, and just grow in friendship. A small group might meet at church, school, Starbucks, DLM, etc. We want to have both weekday and weekend options, to accommodate anyone who wants to join! Whether you are a parent or teen who is interested in hearing more about our small group ministry, please contact Jeffrey Kremer, at [email protected]

Social Nights:

Stay in tune for upcoming social events! These will often take place at the parish, and will include fun games, food, and sports!

Youth Kickoff, Sunday, September 1. Starts at 7 PM, after 6 PM Mass. Activities include free pizza and a kickball tournament!

Service Days:

Service is ESSENTIAL to who we are as disciples. So much of Jesus’s ministry was about serving the poor and vulnerable among us. If Jesus did it, so do we. We will be holding service days about once a month, where we will serve at various locations across Springboro and the Greater Dayton area. These service days will include reflections on Scripture and Catholic Social Teaching.

Retreats and Mission Trips:

In November 2019, we attended the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis. NCYC brings together almost twenty thousand young Catholics from across the nation, to worship together and enter more deeply into our shared faith. This was a great opportunity to see how the Holy Spirit is moving in the young people of America!

In June 2019, we traveled to Louisville to serve at Catholic Heart Workcamp. We had a powerful experience in service to neighbor, building community, and spending time in prayer and Adoration! Stay in tune for this year’s retreats and mission trips, including:

2020 Summer Mission Trip: location and dates to be announced soon!

More information can be found at the following link, and the mandatory release form for the event can be found below as well.

Encounter takes place this year on November 10th, February 9th, and April 26th. 5:30-8:30 PM, at Ascension Parish in Kettering.
